the promise I almost missed

 

I spied,

with my big brown eyes,

a spot of purple this morning

I was getting the mail

I didn't have my phone to snap a picture

I was in a hurry

I had errands to run 

in town and out of town

pre mega snow storm January 24-25,2026

and I forgot about the gift

then tonight,

when it was late 

and dark

and cold

that flash of joy came to mind 

I tried to talk myself out of it,

but I needed a photo...

because I needed the reminder

to not miss the beauty of today

in the concern over an impending storm of tomorrow
