One
For those of you old enough to remember Three Dog Night, the following song lyrics will be familiar.
One
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one
No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
`Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, worse than two
It's just no good anymore since she went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday
One is the loneliest, number one is the loneliest
Number one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest, one is the loneliest
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
It's just no good anymore since she went away
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
For some reason the refrain,
"One is the loneliest number" has been running through my head this evening.
I can't seem to escape it's lonely echo.
And I wonder...
is it really true that one is the loneliest number?
For I have found that sometimes being in a crowd is lonelier than being alone...
anyone else ever felt that way?
I understand this in more ways than one.
