discouragement

I feel like that little guy in the graphic.
I want the "carrot".
I can see the "carrot".
I know having the "carrot" would be good.
But I cannot have the "carrot".
It is beyond my grasp.
No matter how hard I try,
I will never reach it on my own.

This morning I had a wonderful time with the Lord.
I allowed Him to correct, rebuke and encourage me.
I remembered that I answer to Him.
Period.
I made a commitment to focus on allowing Him to make me who I need to be , regardless of what anyone else chooses.
And then came the phone call.
The one that immediately threw me into discouragement.
Because it got me thinking about the "carrot".

"En" means toward.

"Dis" means away from.

Courage is facing hard things and doing what needs to be done:
even if
you are tired
even if
you are afraid
even if
you have to do it alone.

I have a choice to make.
I can focus on that "carrot" and live in discouragement.
Or I can focus on God and choose encouragement,
knowing He has something better than a "carrot" for me.

I think I will choose to try and live today focused on God rather than on the carrot!
