genograms

Andrew is in a class called Family Systems.
Genograms are one of the assignments in Family Systems class.

"What is a genogram?" You may well ask.

thank you dictionary.com:
–noun
a graphic representation of the personalities and interplay of generations within a family, used to identify repetitive patterns of behavior; a psychological family tree.

Boys are squares, girls are ovals.
Lines connect one generation to another.
A double slash on a line means divorce.
You can probably guess what an x over your name and shape mean.

Following this graphic representation of life is a written synopsis of the significant events in the lives represented by simple squares and circles.
The good, the bad and the ugly.

Tonight we finish the genogram. It is due in the morning.

I wish the genogram and synopsis read differently.

Thank God for Jesus.

Literally.

Because of the difference Jesus makes in my life,
I have hope.
I pray that the genograms of my grandchildren will tell a different story-
a story of marriage covenants kept,
and all children regarded as gifts to be treasured.
