2020 vision
I do not have 20/20 vision so since December 2014 I have made it a priority to get an eye exam yearly. I call a month or so ahead of time and get an appointment with no problem. Because I was travelling November 19-December 9 I called in early November to secure an end of December appointment. There was a hiccup. The insurance requirement of a year plus a day between appointments put me in an unfortunate window of time. There was nothing available the last week of December. Since clear vision is important I took the first available appointment insurance would cover, January 2, 2020. For a minute I bemoaned the fact I was "wasting/losing" my benefit for 2019, but quickly recovered and rejoiced when I saw that making appointments in the future would be much less stressful.
Last week Ruth and I were talking about some vision stuff for their church and our own personal spiritual growth for next year. Like a flash of lightening, in my brain I could see Two Thousand Twenty written out and the word play began: 20/20 spiritual vision in 2020.
my spiritual vision for 2020?
to see, more clearly
people
situations
circumstances
"problems"
ugliness
beauty
difficulties
opportunities
the only way I know to make this to happen is to ask God to open
my eyes
my heart
my mind
my ears
my hands
and to correct my vision
of myself
of others
of Him
I don't want to lose or waste opportunities for clearer spiritual vision in 2020. I want every day for the rest of my life to be full of whatever it takes to have correct vision of who He is, who I am in Him and how I am to live from those truths.
"I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him,
having the eyes of your hearts enlightened,
that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you,
what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,
and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His great might that He worked in Christ when He raised him from the dead and seated Him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come."
Ephesians 1:16-21
...I bow my knees before the Father (asking) ... that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
from Ephesians 2:14-19
Thank you for your post. Great words of wisdom.
