lessons from lightening bugs (or fireflies)
this little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine,
this little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine,
this little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine,
let it shine,
let it shine,
let it shine,
everywhere I go,
I'm gonna let it shine...
Even when I feel "less than", His light is alive and well in me. It leaks out of my brokenness and is visible in the darkness, not because of my strength or wisdom or goodness or ability or anything else dependent upon me, but because He is light and He cannot be overcome or diminished, regardless of how dark the darkness is.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it....He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him. He came to his own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:1-5, 10-13
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
"a bruised reed He will not break,
and a faintly burning wick He will not quench;
He will faithfully bring forth justice." Isaiah 42:3
and a faintly burning wick He will not quench;
He will faithfully bring forth justice." Isaiah 42:3
