fall, in love
today I needed a relaxed trip to the lake and time in my gazebo
DQ makes for a quick and easy picnic lunch
as I sat waiting to pull out of the parking lot this was my view:
Carole Malone was busy,
and the longer I sat waiting, the more I realized
that what I saw depended on where my focus was...
that thought kept my mind busy as I drove
I almost didn't stay at the lake:
someone was sitting in the gazebo when I arrived
and it was sprinkling
but, my fries and burger were getting cold
my sundae was melting
so I sat in my car to eat before heading home
the rain stopped
I moved to a bench to enjoy my sundae
the gentleman in the gazebo left
I shifted to take his place
one of my favorite sounds is rain on a metal roof,
thank you God for that feast for my ears
as my eyes ate up the beauty across the lake
and my soul settled into rest
as I sat in the stillness of nature, not at home
a couple pulled in as I was leaving
I watched as they headed toward my gazebo
I wanted to roll down my window and shout toward them:
Don't take this gift for granted!
Soak up the wonder of being together!
Each day with someone you love is precious...
and I am guilty of having taken far too many days for granted.
I appreciate life much more now than I used to.
I've learned that even on days filled with dark clouds and rain,
beauty can be found.
