Flag Project Update*
You would think the tears would eventually dry up.
That I wouldn't find them raising up from my stomach, stopping briefly to fill my chest, tightening my throat and settling in my eyes, blurring my vision over the same thing. Especially when I am simply writing an update. But I find that isn't the case. This particular thing is something I am too passionate about to be unemotional.
Progress is being made on the Flagpole Project. On the fund raising side we have collected almost half of the projected cost. I and the family want to say a huge thank you to those of you who have donated.
Data has been collected, research is on going and decisions are in progress. There will be a concrete patio, LED lights for illumination and likely either a 70 or 80 foot flag pole that will proudly display both the American flag and the Christian flag. If it is an 80 foot pole the American flag will be 12x18 feet. That's a tall pole and a big flag. Again, this is not set in stone, but it is closer to being a reality.
Time of installation has not been set. Another project will coincide with this one. The hope is for them to be completed before the first home football game this fall, and word on the street is "definitely before Homecoming". Of course, we all know sometimes things happen beyond our control and plans get delayed, I hope that isn't the case this time, but life can take strange twists.
My heart goes from racing to dragging-would that be considered a drag racing heart? I am not sure, but I do know that Bill would be thrilled that this going to become a reality and our family is excited and thankful.
If you would like to make a donation for this project you can send a check or money order to KCU, noting that it is for the Flagpole Project or you can click the following link to make an online contribution.
