things I took for granted

Yesterday as I drove home from Frankfort I began to think about things I miss and things I took for granted. This is a sampling.

my driver 

napping on trips

having a decision maker in the house

a boundary setter

paid bills

mowing the lawn when I wanted to 

someone else taking care of dead things 

a full gas can 

dog dishes filled with food and water

a hand reaching to hold mine

a kiss on the forehead

trash cans taken to the front for garbage pickup 

cans returned to the back yard after pickup

a clean car

a full gas tank

being held

quick phone calls 

fast food delivered after a day of working outside

being kept up to date on news I needed to be aware of

daily weather reports

someone waiting for me to get home after shopping all day or a solo road trip

"everyday" life with a house full 

I am thankful for what I have,
for what I am able to do,
but sometimes the missing of what was is strong and painful...
