I am one of two made one, learning to be one again

Bill and I shared thirty eight years and life together.
We dated a year.
This picture was taken soon after we
married in 1977.
We were so young.
He was 23, I was 18.

We took our wedding vows seriously.
We believed that when we married God would make us one.
And He did knit our hearts together.
We remained individuals,
but we were a united couple.

Don't get me wrong.

It wasn't always easy.
We did not always agree.
We made it through the difficult times
because we were committed to God first in our individual lives.
God gave us what we needed to persevere and stay true to one another.
God took two and made us one.
That is why sometimes it is hard to feel whole now.

I call this our courting chair.
His mom bought it while we were dating.
We probably should not have sat in it before we were married, but we did.
This picture was taken LONG after we were married.
It was one of my favorite places to sit and snuggle with him.
Our vows included "in sickness and in health." Bill took care of me, kindly, patiently, compassionately, lovingly, regardless of the cause of the sickness.

These two photos are after the car accident in 2013 that fractured my sternum, left wrist and left ankle. I was in a wheelchair for awhile.
This picture was taken in 2011. Behind the smile is a woman battling a mental, emotional hormonal struggle. Beside her is the man who stood by her, prayed for her and supported her until wellness returned.
 "in good times and bad"
the only time I ever felt the need to say anything to Bill about his words/attitude was at sporting events-
he could get fired up over sub par officiating
especially if one of our children were competing

KCU Football
KCU Basketball

UK Basketball
Reds Baseball

"through richer or poorer"
welcoming grandchildren into our family

I miss that beautiful smile and safe haven hug

our vows ended with
"until death do us part"
tomorrow it will be four years...
the time in between, 37 years, flew by
if I had the chance to do it all again, I would, without hesitation
