reckless love? yes, please

I think this song came out about a year ago. A few months ago I was told that some believers were upset by it. They didn't like that the artist had used the word "reckless" to describe God's love and I cannot, for the life of me, understand why they are offended and not thankful.

Reckless is an adjective. According to dictionary.com it means utterly unconcerned about the consequences of some action; without caution;...
and isn't that a perfect description of how God loves us?

"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life." Romans 5:6-10

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth." Ephesians 1:3-9

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us. I John 4:7-11

Those passages tell me He is not cautious in the way He loves us, that His love is reckless.
Extravagant.
Lavish.

It is also a wreck-less love.
His love did not
nor will it ever
originate with anything I do
or don't do.

His reckless, wreck-less love calls me
draws me
sustains me
fulfills me.
And bids me to love others the same way He loves me...
