(For women only)-MENopause

I was talking to a dear friend the other day about life.
More specifically about the lives of women.
Particularly about this stormy period in our lives.

She made me laugh when she talked about how different our lives are from the lives of men.
We get to deal with:
MENstrual cycles
HIMorroids
MENopause
GUYnocologist

I just had another friend ask me to pray for her.
She too is going through menopause.

I know men are not responsible for these things.
I wish there was a way for them to experience them because there are no words to explain.

Most women I know would not choose:
be forgetful
to live in a mental fog
to feel on fire
or freezing
to be teary
to be exhausted
to be sleepless
to feel "out of control"
to be fearful
to be "on edge"
to be angry
to be frustrated as our body betrays us
to not be able to explain what is going on
to feel guilty because our prayers are not "working"
to not recognize the alien stranger that has invaded our body.

Women, we are in a battle.
All kinds of things attack us.
I am convinced that women need other women in their lives.
Women who will do for us what Aaron and Hur did for Moses.
(Say that second name out loud.)

Exodus 17:8-13
"The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword."

We need someone to tell us when we need to sit down.
We need women who will come alongside and hold our hands up when we are too weary to keep on doing what we know we need to be doing.
We need women who will stand by our side and help us remain steady until the battle is over.
These kind of women are mature women we can respect and confide in.
Women who will listen and not try to tell us how to "fix it".
Women who understand our struggles but refuse to allow us to use those struggles as an excuse for sin.

Rise up.
Find someone to stand alongside.
When it is your turn, pull up the Rock and hold up their arms.
When it is your turn, allow them to lead you to the Rock and hold up your arms.

Matthew 7:24-27 (NASB)

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”

As the storms rage in our lives, shutters and shingles and siding may fly off, there will probably be changes to the structure, but if we live our lives hearing and putting into practice what Jesus teaches, at the end of the storms we will still be standing because our foundation, life in Christ, cannot be moved.
