working in the Light
John 9:4-5 (NASB)
"We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day;
night is coming when no one can work.
While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.”
Matthew 5:14-16 (NASB)
“You are the light of the world.
A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket,
but on the lampstand,
and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
We are lamps.
Vessels.
He is the Light.
If we do not allow Him to live in us,
if we do not allow Him to be our energy source
if we do not allow Him to "trim our wick"
we are empty vessels not fulfilling our purpose.
What is our purpose?
We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day;
"we must"
not
it might be a good idea
if it appeals to you
if it is convenient
if it is easy
if you are inclined to
if "they" "deserve" it
"We must work the works of Him who sent Me;"
not the work I want to do
not the work you want me to do
not the work the religious leaders want me to do.
We must work the works of our Father in heaven,
and we are to do it in the light of His light so our Father is glorified.
