moms
Moms come in all shapes and sizes-
and I contend that you don't have to give birth to be one and
giving birth doesn't automatically qualify you as one!
Moms are the women who invest time and love into the lives of children of all ages.
Listening- especially in the middle of the or at other "inconvenient" times-
and you know they don't consider you a bother.
Holding on to you when your world is spinning out of control.
Hugging you just because.
Reading your body language correctly because they know you.
Hearing what hasn't been spoken.
Sensing when "I'm okay" really means "I am falling apart."
Correcting with gentle kindness.
Disciplining because they love you too much to allow you to grow up "wild enough to shoot at."
Praying for you and with you.
Hoping your dreams come true and willing to dream with you.
Accepting you for who you are.
Challenging you to grow into the man or woman God wants you to be.
Protecting us, sometimes from ourselves, yet also knowing when to
allow you to make bad choices so you learn how to make wise choices.
Teaching you how to live life in love with Jesus.
This means she has a love relationship with Jesus herself. It involves honesty- vulnerability-time-commitment-sharing how she began to live with Him and the things that have made her who she is. Good and bad. Successes and failures. Times of ease and discomfort. Pleasant and painful experiences.
Deuteronomy 4: 3-9 CEV
(Moses is speaking to the Israelites who were God's chosen people. Jesus came to open the way for all of to be God's chosen people. God pursues us- when we choose to make Him our Savior and Lord, we become one of God's chosen.)
" You have seen for yourselves what the Lord did...Look, I have taught you the laws and rules the Lord my God commanded me...But be careful! Watch out and don't forget the things you have seen. Don't forget them as long as you live, but teach them to your children and grandchildren."
The most important thing a mom can do is continue to mature in her faith, growing to love Jesus more - every day-, and show her children- birthed or adopted, how they can have a love affair with Jesus too!
I am thankful for all of the moms that are or have been part of my life.
