waiting

Waiting.
It is not one of my favorite things, but my Favorite calls me to do so.
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take heart courage; yes, wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:14
No hint of suggestion here! So I try to faithfully let my heart take courage in Him and wait patiently.
"I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope." Psalm 130:5
Jesus is the Word of God. In Him I hope.
"I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm." Psalm 40:1-2
God heard my cries of repentance and rescued me- He gave a safe, clean, firm place in Him.
My hope and waiting is not a sitting idle, drumming my fingers on the desk or a wringing of my hands wondering who is in control. I am not tapping my toes on the ground, trying to pass the time wishing He would pay attention to me.

My hope is a confident expectation that God will do all He has promised.

My waiting is a calmness, a stillness in my soul that enables me to put one foot in front of the other, walking in obedience day by day. It is fueled by knowing two things:

1) He is coming back for me one day!
(Hebrews 9:27-28)
and
2)He doesn't expect me to do this on my own!
"Do you not know, have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait on the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:28-31

One day, I too will soar!
