GRRRR!

today, Friday April 16, I was mad

and I was sad

and I cried the ugly cry

and I went to the lawyer's office to sign the amended Bondurant Trust

which is part of why I was mad

and why I was sad

and why I cried the ugly cry

and have had tears ready to fall at any and every thing 

I hate sin

I hate death

and I hate that weeds grow uninvited

prolifically

with no help

I noticed the weeds in the raspberry patch when I mowed three weeks ago

they were just getting big enough to pull 

I didn't have time that day 

I didn't feel well the next week

I was at the beach last week

when I am feeling like I was today,

dirt therapy does my soul good

so today was the day of reckoning

as soon as I began pulling I realized I'd forgotten or didn't know about one weed

it's easy to pull, even when it is full grown,

what I forgot or didn't know was that it spits seeds far and wide when it matures

bottom line:

those seeds on my strawberry plants tell me I'll be pulling weeds again

I wish taming and getting rid of the weeds in my heart 

was as easy

and painless 

and quick 

as getting this mess taken care of was

and I wish the fruit of the Spirit grew in me

as easily

and as quickly 

and as painlessly as those weeds grew...

"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit." Galatians 5:16-25
