last day, last night

I have never minded that there aren't many pictures of me at family events. It isn't  because I don't attend or am in hiding, it's because most often I am behind the scenes taking care of details or I am busy taking pictures of everyone else. I was thinking about that today and regretting it a little, though I didn't say anything to anyone. But God heard my heart prayer-the one I didn't  even know I'd prayed.

These two pictures are not fancy or staged, but they are special, a gift from God.

Unprompted, my daughter in law grabbed my phone from the picnic table on the deck and documented me in the lake with my kids and grandkids. I am not a good swimmer. The only way I choose to get in water over my head is with a life jacket on. And most often I avoid it if possible.

But this week I've chosen to be in the water every single day.

Today Jess recognized a moment that might not otherwise be remembered. Jonathan took a picture of me on my first kayak trip and Sarah took pictures of me other places here, but these are the only two I know of that capture me in the lake.

Thank you Jess. I love you, this is just one more reason why.

Jess has an eye for capturing beautiful moments. She sent this as I finished this post.
