one more time
I freely admit it. I am a cheapskate. My track record with flowers in hanging baskets contributes to my unwillingness to invest much in them anymore. (I've tried them all-different types of flowers, different types of planters and soil, from different retailers and greenhouses and have had the same result. Not great. Definitely not worth the money I've put into them.)
This spring Aldi had some baskets for $6.97. I like geraniums. I've not had much success with them, but for $7 I was willing to take a chance again. I envisioned pretty red flowers, if I was lucky, gracing one of my back porch side tables this summer. Then an unexpected but very welcome surprise unfolded. Pink. Deep, rose pink.
Today the vibrancy of the almost fluorescent-like flowers caught and held my attention. As I focused on the color before me, everything else in the background faded. How wonderful it is to take time to appreciate the spots of color in life rather than exclusively focusing on the ordinary, the drab, the mundane. Color doesn't make the other go away, surely, but it certainly adds something wonderful to the view.
