17/365 "It's Too much"

"It's too much" she said as she hugged me, sincerely sympathizing and wanting to comfort me. "It" was a lot, one more "something" I didn't want to carry, but had no choice about whether or not it would become part of my story.

When burdens come and I am staggering under the weight, it is tempting to listen Satan try to convince me "it's too much". The whispers and innuendos that God doesn't care, that if He did love me He wouldn't let me face "this" battle are loud enough without having "it's too much" spoken by a fellow believer in the memory bank to add fuel to a fire that longs to burn out of control.

"It's too much" is a half truth.

"It"  may very well be too much for me to bear. BUT if it comes into my life, it is supposed to become part of my story- and the author and perfecter of my faith, Jesus, will give me all I need, when I need it, to be able to stand and not crumble under the weight. IF I take it and lay it at His feet, and allow Him to bear the burden with or for me.

Another "her" in my life, sincerely sympathizing and wanting to comfort me when she learned I had one more something to bear, something I had no choice about, took a different route and sent this song as a reminder:

As I listened, with my arms raised in praise and tears streaming down my face, I was reminded of Hur and Aaron holding up Moses arms as a battle raged. Their support made the difference in the battle being won. I thanked God for her being my Hur. I hope you have a Hur in your life as well, for those times when it is too much.

Exodus 17:8-13
"Then Amalek came and fought with Israel at Rephidim. So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.” So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword."
