25/366 Rest is not a 4 letter word
sitting with my feet up tonight it isn't that I'm all caught up and this is my reward no, there are plenty of things I could be doing, but, not this evening how long has it been for you? |
Rest
sometimes we treat rest like it is a dirty four letter word
we avoid using it
we are embarrassed if we are caught doing it
I want to encourage you,
especially if it's been awhile,
to stop rushing to work and invest some time in rest
my habit has been:
work, work, work
rest (maybe)
work, work, work, work
this pattern is fertile soil for weariness to grow and thrive in
I am trying to create a new habit
work, rest, work, rest
because I have discovered something:
making time to rest
positively impacts my ability to work affectively and effectively
rest:allow to be inactive in order to regain strength, health, or energy
Jesus said:
"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-29
And on the seventh day, He rested.
