when yard sale memories lead to yard sailing plans 110/366
auto correct is a blessing and a curse
on my first smartphone, a Razor,
every single time I would text the word "eat"
it would autocorrect to "fat"
after awhile
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry
I was close to getting a complex
and I wasn't all that upset when I accidentally washed my phone
it gave me a reason to replace it which was cheaper than therapy
COVID-19 has changed the way I look at things
and definitely the frequency with which I look at some things
yesterday was a combination of cold cloud cover and the sun playing peek-a-boo
I did a lot of computer surfing
Facebook scrolling
email checking and writing
Facebook scrolling
Lumosity
Facebook scrolling
during one of those scrolls,
which should have been a stroll outside,
I read a memory someone shared
and I have to believe there was some auto correcting going on
I lost it,
giggling and mentally imagining what was written might look like
this person had spent the day going to yard sales with two friends,
and when she shared the memory,
instead of "yard saling" her phone corrected it to "yard sailing"
I sent a message to Beth and Sarah,
asking if we could go yard sailing when all of this over
the way I put it was not clear
which led to a facetime phone call for clarification of my request
and more giggling
we discussed ridiculous scenarios,
detailing what yard sailing might look like
which led to an idea that was doable-
everything I needed to be successful was in the shed
I grabbed the ladder,
climbed up to reach inside the tote which held the key pieces for victory
and pulled out 2 purchases from being at the Lake last summer:
our boat
and a manual air pump-
the boys used that pump to fill the Explorer Pro
but after using it last night I have made an executive decision:
if I am going to be the one responsible for making this boat useable
I will definitely be investing in an electric pump

It's an up to 4 person ride social distancing makes it impossible now, but when this is all over anyone want to join me yard sailing? |
I'd like to say you can blame this humor on COVID quarantine
but I'd be lying,
my brain, especially when fertilized by brainstorming with my kids
just goes to odd places
this will forever be "Corony-19 yard sailing" in our memories
I am glad no one was at the car wash behind the house
and we wonder what the neighbors were thinking...
I was actually wishing one would be out-
taking a selfie to get the full effect was difficult
