broken...now what?
I see it
I feel it
I hear it
I read it
the fear
the pain
the anger
the disgust
the weariness
the frustration
this world is broken
each one of us
has been broken
and whether it is our fault
or the result of somebody else's choices
the result is the same, we are hurting people
and when the jagged edges of other's brokenness
rub up against the sharpness of our brokenness it can cause more pain
there is a way to make life different
it isn't complicated,
but it isn't easy
"...Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All men will know that you are My disciples if you love one another." John 13:34-35
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." I Corinthians 13:4-7
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord. On the contrary:

"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing." I Corinthians 13:1-4
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Romans 12:21
if I bring my brokenness and you bring yours if we allow love to be the glue that binds us together something grand, something beautiful will be the result |
