my favorites

Fall, Autumn, whatever name you give it,
today was the first day of my favorite season 
I put together a special fall flower arrangement this afternoon 
I have been collecting  for it since July,
I worked up the nerve, before soccer practice, to deliver it

when I opened the door I saw this package on my porch

it was unexpected 

well, I was expecting it

but not today, 

it was a week early!

I set the flowers on the bench
I knew my delivery wouldn't take long 
but I didn't want to leave my package on the porch
because I knew it held one of three projects I worked on last weekend
and I was excited to see how it turned out

 

and it gave me a few more minutes before I went to the cemetery

my heart began smiling 

    as the reality of what was in front of me unfolded

        one creation to honor the memory of my husband

            one creation to celebrate our family and living

                  a perfect mix of my favorite things
