when you take a hit and cannot march
my last post was about marching
through pain
through hard stuff
through unpleasantness
sometimes you just have to soldier up and march
but the truth is,
sometimes you cannot march
no matter how much you would like to,
no matter how hard you try to make it work
you simply cannot do it
sometimes you take a hit
physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually
you get knocked down
you cannot stand, let alone walk
what then?
I took a hit yesterday
I thought I was battling an IBS episode
so I made a strategy for going to church and for walking
I would drive rather than ride with Ruth and Kyle in case I needed to leave
I would do laps around the park to be close to a bathroom
it wasn't IBS,
it was some kind of bug
at 2:30 yesterday afternoon I came up for a nap
and until noon today was in bed or on the toilet
pretty? no, but real. Sometimes life stinks.
I have had a lot of time to think as I lay in bed
memories have played in my head of other hard hits
ones I have taken
ones I have helped others through
some you "recover from"
some alter the way you live
some things are out of our control
no one is strong 100% of the time
sometimes we march
sometimes we lean
sometimes we sit and rest
sometimes we carry one another
we need one another to make it through this life
