deSha's part 2
Part of living, as opposed to existing, is growing. Part of growing is building on past experiences and/or trying new things. On Mother's Day Beth treated me to lunch at deSha's in Maysville, Kentucky. (An old practice at a place new to both of us.) She told me to get anything I wanted on the menu. (Not a new practice. My children are generous and often spoil me when we are together). I chose their Teriyaki chicken over rice. It was delicious. As we were leaving the waitress gave us a coupon for $10. Beth insisted I take it.
Maysville is about an hour away from Grayson, farther than I am willing to travel for a meal at a restaurant. The only time I go through there is on my way to or from Beth's and normally I am on a schedule that doesn't allow for anything other than fast food drive-thru. I stuck the coupon in my glove box, just in case. Sunday, on my way home from Chloe's celebration, there was no place I needed to be, it was mid afternoon, I was hungry and I remembered the coupon. With the discount I could order a good meal and leave a generous tip for $10-not much more than a decent meal from a fast food place so I decided to stop for a late lunch. I ordered the same meal. It was beautiful. And delicious.
- It is weird to ask for a table for one
- I am uncomfortable sitting alone at a table in a restaurant
- A meal "out", no matter how delicious, is not enjoyable without company
- I can do hard things
- I won't be repeating this experience anytime soon
