early birthday gifts

 Wednesday is my birthday

I've spent 62 years on this earth.

Thinking about my life,

past, present and future

has triggered emotions and memories.

my heart is full of feelings there are no words for

between missing loved ones I haven't seen for awhile, 

to gathering with most all of my kids and grandkids over the weekend

then coming home to an empty house Sunday evening

after it being full of Deborah's family for over two weeks

it is like I've been in an emotional tornado

and I'm hanging on tight to the Love of my life, 

Jesus,

so I don't get carried away like Dorothy did

as soon as this boy came into the house tonight,

after traveling from Indianapolis to Grayson,

with stop at Walmart to restock fresh fruits and veggies,

he came straight to me, 

a smile as big as the sky

eyes bright and glad to see me,

with that sweet little voice excited to tell me;

"Happy Birthday grandma, 

I love you"

and I find,

as this day comes to a close

that my heart is full

of all things good and pleasant

love is a beautiful, powerful, healing force

Gabriel brought me another gift before he went to bed-

a picture of his house and mine,

two hearts, 

and him picking a flower for me 

I am blessed beyond measure
