star light, star bright...
Saturday night
I sat alone
on Sarah's back deck
and watched the stars come out,
one by one.
The darker the sky, the brighter they appeared.
At one point the flight path of a firefly intersected with my picture. For over an hour I lay on my back,
looking up at the sky,
mesmerized.
Thinking about how God calls the stars by name.
How He calls them out, one by one.
At one point I prayed
"Lord this is awesome.
I just want someone who is willing to lay on their back
on a beautiful night like this,
and look up at the stars with me."
I heard a whisper,
gentle,
kind,
but firm,
with a hint of longing:
"I am here.
I always have been.
I always will be.
Stop and ask yourself-
am I enough?"
Tears rolled down my cheeks,
into my ears,
and I said,
"Yes, Lord,
You are."
Psalm 147:1-5
"Praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing praise to our God...He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; ..."
Psalm 8:3-4
"When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of Him and the son of man that you care for him?"
