I am a Kept Woman
I am a kept woman and I am proud of it. If you don't know me, please keep reading before passing judgement. |
And rightly so. Marriage is sacred and God says the marriage bed should be undefiled*- that it is created for a man and his wife, not a man and his mistress or a woman and her lover. A woman (or man) would rarely admit to being kept. And yet, here I am, claiming it, both as a verb and a noun. Why? Because last night I read a post I wrote 7 1/2 weeks after Bill died. It is just as true today.
God keeps me
He keeps me in His love.
He keeps me in His sight.
He keeps me in His peace.
He keeps me in His watch care.
He keeps me aware that He is I AM.
He keeps me from despair.
He keeps me from being rude.
He keeps me from throwing punches.
He keeps me from giving in to "what if's".
He keeps me from settling for mere existence.
Keep: (verb)
to hold or retain in one's possession;
hold as one's own
Don't limit God.
That is a lesson I've been learning for a long time.
I'm learning it more deeply every day.
God will provide.
Everything I need.
Every
Single
Time
In ways that make me smile.
In ways that would never be on my radar. In ways that make it absolutely clear that it is Him.
I love being in His keep.
Keep: (noun)
the innermost and strongest structure
or central tower of a medieval castle.
"You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on You
because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock."
Isaiah 26:3-4
Yes, I know I am old and it shows in this post. I am also a Jesus follower and believe that God's Word is truth and meant to be obeyed, even if it isn't easy or popular.
*Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Hebrews 13:4
