there is no shadow

with the colors that fall brings 

my eyes see things in a different way

shadows seem more pronounced,

especially when they involve trees that should be in full blazing color

shadow:

a dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface.

the trees on that hillside never moved

the colors didn't change

but the way my eyes perceived them did

when they were bathed in light they were much more vivid,

much more appealing

a hymn keeps coming to mind, 

one that I know most of the words to, 

and those who know me won't be surprised that one line 

prompts the rest of the song to fill my mind 

"there is no shadow of turning with Thee..."

what might surprise those who know me

is that I actually know all the words-

at least to the chorus
