nesting treasures 147/366
Treasures and trash.
I found both when I cleaned in and behind the shed.
Some I was responsible for placing there,
other things,
well they were unexpected gifts.
Some of Hannah and Chloe's artwork from 2008.
It has a home where it is, and will as long as I live here,
because my heart smiles every time I see it.
Where did this single penny come from?
I don't carry change in my pockets.
I don't carry change in my pockets.
I've noticed though that coins seem to show up when I need to be reminded
that no matter what, as the inscription says,
"in God I trust", because trusting Him makes the most (cents) (sense).

Not far from the penny
I found two wrens that hadn't been on the ground long.
Their bodies were still soft, feathers intact.

Size indicated an adult and adolescent.
An intricately built home,
probably to the two birds I'd found on the ground.
I kept it as is,
not because I think the nest will be used again,
but because it still has a purpose.
Even empty, a home is a sign that "this place" once held life.
The first nest Bill and I shared in Kenmore, Ohio.
We filled it with Elizabeth, Sarah, Deborah and Jonathan.
We moved to Grayson and added Andrew and Ruth to our brood.
One by one the fledglings established their own nests.
Bill was called home and "our nest" is now my nest.
Though it isn't full of people, it is far from empty.
It is full of love and memories.
It will be my home until the Lord clearly shows me a new nesting sight.
