Mr. Moon, Mr. Moon...154/366
random things prompt specific memories
today the moon, large in the late afternoon sky
brought to mind a song my girls sang when they were little:
"Mister Moon, Mister Moon you're out too soon,
the sun is still in the sky.
Go back to your bed and cover up your head
and wait til the day goes by."
that prompted other long ago summer memories to flood my mind:
bare feet
back door slamming
an empty dish soap bottle making the best tool for water fights
popsicles dripping down faces and arms
playing in the rain
fans in bedroom windows to try and cool the upstairs enough for sleeping
everyone gathered in the family room, the only place with a window air conditioner
Koolaide smiles
some days being so hot I thought we'd all melt
tapping holes in jar lids so we could catch lightning bugs
a clubhouse with a swing set and sandbox attached
watermelon wedges and seed spitting contests
grilling hamburgers and hotdogs
Bill always seemed to drop one and it would go to Sam rather than waste it
spraying the kids with the hose
blowing bubbles
swimming at the Brooks' pool
roaming the woods at Tonda and Amon's or Eileen and George's
occasion pontoon boat rides
I have countless riches in my life...
