Hearing my grandchildren take turns at supper to pray before we eat our meal this week has been one of the best Birthday gifts I have ever received. Added to spontaneous individual chats, seeing and hearing their joy as they pick ripe red raspberries and strawberries then watching them share the handful they find, coupled with them simply being here has made it the best Birthday week I've had in a long time. There is no substitute for having little arms wrap around your waist or neck and a sweet kiss on the cheek is priceless. Sharing life with children adds a dimension that is missing without their perspective. If you don't have any children or grandchildren of your own or if circumstances prevent you from being able to share life with them try to find one or more to "adopt"- not legally, just in your heart. It is an investment you won't regret.
