life giving light
It is amazing what a difference sunlight makes. Especially after gray days and dark nights. Several times today I found myself gazing out the window, at nothing in particular, simply soaking up its life giving beauty to my heart and mind.
This afternoon as I enjoyed the effect of sunlight reflecting off of icicles hanging from my clematis and saw it streaming through the playroom windows onto the plants in the windowsills, I began thinking about the even more amazing difference the Son makes in our days. The beauty He adds to even simple things. It is mind boggling to me that He invites us into relationship with Him and when we accept that invitation, He dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. And because the Holy Spirit is alive in us, we can reflect the Son and help others walk out of darkness into light.
It is incredible the difference the Son makes.
"Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." Matthew 5:14-16
"For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him. There is no judgement against anyone who believes in Him. But anyone who does not believe in Him has already been judged for not believing in God's one and only Son. And the judgement is based on this fact: God's light came into the world, but the people loved darkness more than light for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come into the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants." John 3:16-21
