my two cents worth

Today I found treasures while walking in a gas station parking lot. Two beat up, run over pennies that most people wouldn't have seen, let alone bent over to pick up. I am not most people.

Coins are inscribed with "In God We Trust".  And beat up ones like this-well they are some of my favorites to rescue from obscurity because they remind me of my life before Jesus.

He is my Creator. He values me, He picked me up while others passed me by. He saw me when I was unseen. He rescued me and He assigns my life value. Regardless of my scars. Regardless of how many times I have been overlooked.

When I began to choose to trust what God says about me, everything in life began to change in value.

All of us have, more than likely, been beat up in one way or another at some point in our life. Some of us have been beat up in multiple ways, countless times. Guess what. Our appearance does not diminish our value to God.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows." Luke 12:6&7

You matter.
You are seen.
You are valued.
You are not forgotten.
Just as you are, you are loved.

"And you were (I was) dead in the trespasses and sins in which you (I) once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:1-10

I was,
But God.
I don't deserve it this life I have in Him.
I can not earn it.
It is a gift.

These two pennies are a reminder of God's love and His desire for me to live in a healthy relationship with Him. For you to live in a healthy relationship with Him. Knowing who we are in Him gives our life immeasurable value.
