thanksgiving

"Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
I Thessalonians 5:16-18

this verse is one of my "core verses"
one that helps keep me focused and on track
especially since Bill died
it is a reminder that thanksgiving is not a feeling
it is a choice of obedience

I wondered what the "world" thought about thanksgiving
so today I typed thanksgiving definition in the search bar
google brought this up:

the idea of a chart made me even more curious so I clicked on it
I don't know what the sources are
I don't pretend to understand it
but a quick look at the graph made me shake my head
look for yourself:

between  and  from the corpus  with smoothing of .do you see what I see?
in the 1800's, a time when people had less
in a time when there were fewer people
the word thanksgiving was used more often
is this why there is so much discontent in our world as a whole

need something to be thankful for today?
listen to this song-
maybe you will join me in my hearts cry of thankfulness
