hood talk-one perfect snowflake

I noticed flurries as I headed out this morning.
Watching snow dance in the air makes me smile
and I usually think about trying to capture it in a video.
Especially the first snow of the year and what I expect will be the last.
There weren't nearly enough flakes this morning to do that
but when I got to the hood of my car I saw it-
one perfect snowflake.
This affection toward snow is tied to knowing how much God loves me,
and what He has promised to do for me,
for you,
for everyone who turns away from sin and turns to Jesus,
and then lives to seek, follow and obey Him.

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
    they shall become like wool.

I was running a little late but paused to take a quick picture.
I glanced at my phone to make sure it was clear,
then got in the car and drove to church.

As a child I learned that no two snowflakes are exactly alike.
As an adult I realized no two people are exactly like.
God creates each one of us uniquely.
It always amazes me to ponder that beautiful truth.
It wasn't until I sat down to write that I saw something else-

That is not a scratch in the paint.
One of my gray hairs somehow made the photo.
I am sure God had something to do with its placement.

Luke 12:6-7
"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows."

Not only does God create unique individuals,
He is interested in and keeps track of the details of our lives.
Why am I convinced of that?
Why do I boldly make that statement?
God numbers the hairs on our head.
Not counts,
numbers.

Think on that for a minute.
Process what it means to number rather than count.
Maybe it will cause you to join me in awe and wonder.
The Creator and Sustainer of life sees us and cares for us.
Enough that He has numbered each hair on our head.
Past. Present. Future.
And for that my heart is ever thankful.
