dislodged

I met a friend for lunch today. On the way into the building I noticed this nest in the parking lot, not far from the tree I am confident it was recently built in, dislodged by strong winds it's makers didn't ask for or anticipate. I was sad for the birds who'd worked hard to establish a home for their coming family, only to have it snatched away by forces outside of their control. That feeling was quickly accompanied by an assurance that they would rebuild. Maybe in the same tree. I wished for a way I could come alongside them and help them get reestablished. My mind then quickly went to the events happening in our world. Here and abroad. The needs and opportunities to help people who've been displaced are abundant. Lord, give me wisdom and discernment and show me where You want me to step in and help rebuild.

"We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?  Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." 1 John 3:16-18 NLT
