soccer & love

Monday was a brilliantly sunny afternoon for soccer practice

the guys were at one end of the turf

the girls were opposite

it was sunny, but it was also 45 degrees

and windy enough the flags stood straight out

I sat in my chair wearing three layers over my torso,

 with a blanket wrapped around my legs

and I was still chilled

I cannot imagine how cold those kids were when they stopped moving

tomorrow is supposed to be like today minus the sun,

but we will still all show up from 3:15-5:00

never, ever underestimate the power and motivation of love

All evening examples of greater personal sacrifice have filled my mind as I think of  people I know who are willingly enduring uncomfortable and even dangerous situations and conditions because they are consumed by love. You know people who are making sacrifices to love others well too. If you have an opportunity, thank them, tell them how much you value and appreciate their sacrifices. Definitely thank God for those who love well. And while you are talking to Him, ask God to show you who and how you can love...

John 13:34-35

"A new commandment I give to you,

 that you love one another: 

just as I have loved you, 

you also are to love one another. 

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, 

if you have love for one another.”
