take a hike

some thoughts from today's unexpected adventure

this morning we went to Oregon to see Multnomah Falls

the traffic was horrendous, parking impossible

so we ended up not where we intended to be

life can be like that

despite our best laid plans and diligent effort

things just don't go the way we thought they would

Mia and Kyle, close behind

the steps can take a little longer stride than we are used to
but our good, good Father is always near
ready to lend a hand when we need it

while Wahkeena Falls was beautiful,
it is not where we wanted to be
however, we could take a hike and get there

sometimes the "treasures" we pick up and insist on carrying weigh us down
Xavier had to hold his shorts up because of rocks he put in his pockets
his momma offered to put them in the backpack, he refused

sometimes getting where we want requires changes, extra work
but persevering, allowing others to walk alongside us
usually pays big dividends with unexpected memories made along the way
