mirror reflections
about an hour and a half from home
driving east on 64
this is what I saw in my side and rear view mirrors
the beauty was enough to take my breath...
I kept glancing in my mirrors
and began thinking
it is okay to be aware
it is good to glance back
it is perfectly acceptable to stop and gaze,
but there is no safe way to move forward
if you are solely focused on what is behind

but there is no safe way to move forward
if you are solely focused on what is behind
slowly I became aware of this ahead of me
a whisper
delicate
restful
beckoning
a different kind of beauty
there is beauty in my past,
there is beauty today
there is beauty in my future
It was beginning to get dark before I arrived home.
The night has it's own kind of beauty as stars twinkle
and the moon reflects the sun.
Tears fell silently, gently down my cheeks as I prayed;
"Father, help me to remember this evening's lesson.
I need to be aware of and thankful for the beauty of what is behind me. It is okay to "pull off", to stop if I need time to gaze on something. I cannot move forward if I am focused on the past. There is beauty even in the dark. The beauty You have yet to display will be different, but it will be no less beautiful."
