On the Road to a Regional Championship

after spending the last three days with the soccer teams
and reflecting on what we shared
stops to eat,
bathroom breaks,
staying at a hotel,
listening to conversations,
being part of conversations,
watching the teams compete,
witnessing interactions 

• with one another 
• with opponents
• with strangers
• with family members
• with authority figures (including some who abused or mismanaged their "power")

joining the girls for team devotions
praying with a few young people individually
being included in team prayers
watching both teams win their Regional championship game today
I am happy and excited to report 
my heart smiles

I am a proud mom,
and my heart smiles,
not because of the two banners,
but because of the young people in this photo.
 My challenge to each one of them?
"Let no one look down on your youthfulness,
but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity,
show yourself an example of those who believe."
