some things will never change 281/366

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains  quake at its swelling pride." Psalm 46:1-3

This passage showed up as a memory from 2009 on my FB memories last year, October 8 and I wrote what follows below. What I wrote showed up as a memory this year. I read it, then re-read it several times. With the way 2020 has unfolded on so many different levels it seemed appropriate to share here.

Some things will never change.

Nor should they.

I don't remember what was going on 10 years ago. I do know normal family life has changed drastically. We live in 7 different cities, 5 states and 2 countries. I have 12 more grandchildren. We have faced illnesses and death. In the midst of what has sometimes felt like overwhelming chaos, one thing has remained the same: God is our refuge and our strength.

When we need shelter, He is where we run.

When we are weak and we turn to Him, He is our strength.

He is a very present help in all of our trouble, in all of our joy, in all of our "everyday stuff".

Though our normal has been shaken and we have been rattled by the changes, we do not live in fear because our God is with us.

Always and all ways providing what we need, when we need it.

To paraphrase the passage:

"God is our safe place and our energy to get through each thing, therefore we will not live in fear. Though life changes and people slip from this life into the next, though storms rage and our lives are shaken, we will not live in fear. It may knock on our door, but we will not invite it in to stay.

"God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble".  No matter what size or intensity the trouble or situation is, our God is bigger.
