fresh rain

rain
gently falling
refreshing the dry, dry ground
is causing thanksgiving and rejoicing today
I can see things beginning to green up "overnight"

there is something in me,
in my spirit, that is responding 
it is like a fresh breath, an energizing renewal

of joy
of rest
of hope
of courage
of assurance
of relaxation
of confidence

this summer
with it's unrelenting heat and humidity
has taken a toll on me mentally and physically

rain
gently falling
reminds me that new life, 
new growth is slowly taking place
in my life and in the lives of those around me
