mail musings

my mailbox was full of "fun stuff" today:
paperwork to fill out for my neurosurgery appointment Monday
I despise filling out new patient paperwork
but I chose to do something heretofore unpracticed
I sat down and filled it out and now it's dread isn't lurking in my brain


a notice from Humana for Bill: "Don't miss your decision deadline"
I am thankful he didn't.
Bill made the decision to live for Christ.
That gives me peace and comfort this world can never take away. 
When he took his last breath here, he took his first breath in heaven.


A second piece of mail for Bill.
The sender information on the envelope made me curious.
Inside was information about an extended warranty.
Don't have nor want the warranty.
But I do appreciate the reminder to endure.


choosing to practice living like Jesus isn't easy,
but it is, 
without a doubt,
worth every battle against my natural tendencies
He is always near, and that is reason enough to give thanks

so many verses came to mind today, so here goes:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:4-8

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2
