life with my crew 46/366
it is one thing to watch your kids grow and mature into adults that you like to be around
it is another to watch your grandchildren travel that road
each one has a different journey
and yet,
it is guaranteed they will all encounter:
- speed bumps
- detours
- potholes
- dangerous curves
- mountains to climb
- wrong turns
- u turns
- missed turns
- construction
- delays
- the need to refuel
- obstacles
- uncertain weather
- rest areas they can stop at or pass by
- smooth stretches
with my 6 children I got to watch 6 distinct paths taken from birth to present
19 grandchildren means another 19 roads to follow
the least experienced traveller, Ezekiel, is 5 months old
(he doesn't have a lot of decisions to make yet)
the most seasoned young traveller is Hannah, she will be 20 this summer
she has had a lot of choices to make along the way
and in between are a slew of other travelers
with varied life experiences and personalities and temperaments
life with my crew is never boring
19 individuals
no two will have the same journey
but my prayer for each of them does not vary
I pray that they will follow the path less travelled
that they will choose the narrow way
that all of their destinations will be the same as mine:
one day, Heaven
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
