memories and music
1977/78 |
a hodgepodge of memories and music woven together has filled my evening
I worked on the Night Flowering Jasmine vine
which led me to think of Bill
I always pruned, he always raked and burned...
as I was burning the yard debris and enjoying the fire
I thought about how something changed for Bill and he couldn't enjoy a fire
it messed with his lungs
I was thinking about how I miss him
which led to remembering the first time I saw his face and how I was smitten
other memories began pouring in...

Mem'ries light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored mem'ries of the way we were
Misty water-colored mem'ries of the way we were
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were
Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we, could we
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we, could we
Mem'ries may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
(and if we had the chance to do it all again, I would, without a doubt.)
the songs kept coming...
beginning in 1974 I was convinced this one was written about Bill...
this is the song we walked down the aisle to at the end of our wedding
