do you have a cheerleader in your life?

someone who seems to draw energy from checking on you

who seems to delight in encouraging you

who seems to always know what to say and when to say it?

I hope you do

and if you do, though I don't know them personally,

I have a feeling there are a few things that are probably true about them

they cheer you on because all of those things above are true

but this year-

this year might be about to do them in

it has been taxing, draining, frustrating, confusing, etc.

they are cheering in the umpteenth overtime without a break, with no end in sight

and sometimes the reason they cheer so loudly for you

is they know how hard it is to try and make it on your own

can I give you some advice?

check on your cheerleader

they may not know what to say in response,

especially if this is the first time you've asked how THEY are

and it may feel awkward and be uncomfortable

and they may be perfectly fine

but also may be in need of a cheerleader themselves about now
