dividends of discipline 251/366

this weekend didn't look like what I would've chosen if I could've designed it,

but...

to be invited and included is a precious gift 

to fly and visit family who are not in driving distance is a wish postponed

to watch a sunset unfold, minute by minute, is an experience of wonder

looking for and acknowledging moments of beauty 

on days when I am tempted to sulk and long for what isn't and cannot be

is a learned, practiced, disciplined choice that pays great dividends

"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
