communication devices
Communication devices are part of our lives.
From telephones to computers to televisions we are all used to accessing information through them.
This summer at camp we had a young lady who is unable to communicate much without her Vanguard. (It is a computer communication device.)
It was new and Sarah had not had an opportunity to share it with her friends. It was fun to be part of the experience that introduced them to her ability to answer questions and ask them with the aid of her Vanguard. Sarah was even able to tell us jokes with it! Without it most of her thoughts are locked up in her brain with no way for her to express them so we could understand.
Sarah's friends were surprised at what they learned about Sarah by the words her Vanguard allowed her to speak. Words communicate what is on our minds.
Since that experience with Sarah and her friends, seeing how amazed they were at what they were able to learn about her through the device, I keep thinking about us and God.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning." John 1:1-2
We could not understand what God was trying to say to us-what was on His mind so He sent Jesus to be His communication device.
"No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only,(Jesus) who is at the Father's side, has made Him known." John 1:18
"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." Hebrews 1:3
I am thankful God sent Jesus so we could understand what He has been trying to communicate to man from the beginning of time:
He loves us.
He wants to have a relationship with us.
That relationship is based on what we choose to do with Jesus.
Read John 1:1-18
Even reading the Word, without a relationship with Jesus, won't tell us what God wants us to know. "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you have eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about Me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life." John 5:39-40
"Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, he gave the right to become children of God-...born of God." John 1:12&13
