Smorgasbords

Smorgasbord

1.a buffet meal of various hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, salads,
casserole dishes, meats, cheeses, etc.

If you were to ask me
"Would you like to attend a smorgasbord in my home?"
I would likely answer,
"Count me in."
I like to eat.

2. an extensive array or variety

If you asked me today
"How are you ?"
I probably answered "Okay".
But reflecting tonight I realize
I am a smorgasbord of emotion.

I can identify specific instances today when one (or more) of these words would have been the correct answer.
Several apply to more than one situation.

tired

determined

accomplished

loved

conflicted

apprehensive

cautious

cared for

pleasantly surprised

eager

expectant

scared

indecisive

frustrated

empathetic

sorrowful

weary

hopeful

cherished

thankful

Looking at it all written down,
identifying how many different feelings I experienced,
how many choices I consciously made,
and realizing it was a pretty typical day,
I am relieved-

I think I have figured out why I am exhausted,
even on days I don't "do" much.
And I am convinced
that I need to continually turn to the Lord.

Why ?
Because in Him I experience the truths found in this passage:

"Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
    His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
    and to him who has no might He increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint."
Isaiah 40:28-31
